DAVE ANDERSON
For Elk Island School Board Trustee
About Me
Welcome! I’m Dave Anderson, and I’m running to serve as your Elk Island School Board Trustee. With 12 years of experience as a municipal councillor in Strathcona County, I bring a strong foundation in public service, transparent leadership, and community collaboration.
I’m committed to ensuring every student has access to a safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment. As a parent, advocate, and long-time Sherwood Park resident, I believe our schools should reflect the values and aspirations of the families they serve.

Why Am I Running to Be Your School Board Trustee?
-
To champion student success and equity across all schools.
-
To ensure fiscal responsibility and transparency in decision-making.
-
To strengthen community engagement and advocate for public education.

How will I accomplish this?

Championing Student Success and Equity Across All Schools
With over a decade of experience in municipal leadership and a deep understanding of governance through my ICD.D designation, I know that strong public systems begin with strong schools. I will advocate for inclusive, student-centered policies that ensure every learner—regardless of background or ability—has the opportunity to thrive. My focus is on supporting programs that promote academic achievement, mental wellness, and equitable access to resources across all Elk Island schools.

Ensuring Fiscal Responsibility and Transparency in Decision-Making
Having served 12 years as a Strathcona County councilor and earned an Executive Leadership Certificate from the University of Alberta, I bring both practical and academic insight into responsible governance. I will ensure that Elk Island Public Schools’
financial decisions are transparent, strategic, and focused on maximizing value for students and families. Responsible stewardship of public funds is essential to maintaining trust and delivering results.

Strengthening Community Engagement and Advocating for Public Education
Throughout my public service career, I’ve built strong relationships by listening, collaborating, and acting on community concerns. My governance training and leadership experience have taught me the importance of meaningful engagement. As a
trustee, I will work to ensure that families, educators, and students have a voice in shaping our schools. I will be a visible and accessible advocate for public education, committed to building trust and fostering dialogue.
